Rob Allanson 8.5

Nose: Patisserie, vanilla slices and custard tarts, nutmeg, chocolate pennies and damp cotton. Orange marmalade and fatty barbequed pork chops with paprika.

Palate: Sweetness gets taken over by black tea tannins. Vanilla and custard push back to reveal a meaty edge.

Finish: Long and sweet, moves to wonderful spices and tannins, before oak grips.

Comments: Great full- bodied Bourbon, some wonderful spice layers and white peppery notes.

Sam Coyne 8.8

Nose: Rummy, with caramelized sugar and raisins. Vibrant and forward, but not in your face. Cinnamon aromas.

Palate: Sweet, followed by a tannin wood spice that dries. Moves into fruit with red berries and maple syrup. Grassy.

Finish: Sweet and lingering. Its most impressive aspect. Fruit yogurts, red berries and blueberries with cereals. Freshly picked mint.

Comments: Complex with balance between flavors. A treat.Water brings earthy notes on the palate.
