Peggy Noe Stevens – 9.0

Nose: Elegant rye nose, candied overlay of caramel and chocolate.  Leather and black currants. Crème Brûlée. Dark fruits and smoldering campfire.

Palate: Depth that is balanced with mature spiciness. Dark fruit and sherry-like. Barrel notes are charming, yet rugged and noticed

Finish: Spice with a generous long finish.  Multi-layered and inviting complexity.

Comments: I want a bottle for the holidays. Exciting to drink.

Susan Reigler – 8.7

Nose: Caramel apples, dark cherries and sweet spice combine. Hint of rye grass.

Palate: Dates and figs. Sweetness balanced by oak dryness. Water brings out more caramel to mingle with the dark fruit.

Finish: Perhaps the whiskey’s least interesting feature. Mostly oak and pepper, but no excess heat.

Comments: Try a small ice cube, a trickle of water, or simply let this open in the glass. Patience will be rewarded.
