Peggy Noe Stevens – 6.5
Nose: Corn husk, slightly medicinal. Lemon citrus with young wood.
Palate: Corn syrup and grainy accents. Grits and almond combination with faint yellow apple peel. Vegetal and herbaceous.
Finish: A bit astringent and raw, which dissipates quickly.
Comments: Lacking complexity, so add a few drops of water to release the tightness.
Susan Reigler – 7.7
Nose: Sweet oak and malt with a far amount of caraway and some caramel.
Palate: Malty cereal, with some dark cherry preserves and a dusting of cocoa and brown sugar. Herbal spice compliment sweet oak tannins.
Finish: Sweetly spicy with the cocoa showing up even more than on the palate. Dry without being arid or peppery.
Comments: Notably smooth whiskey. No need to add water and you do not want to.
