Peggy Noe Stevens – 7.0

Nose: Slightly medicinal and edgy. Sugar cane and grape jelly. Cassis-like.

Palate: Cherry and grape flavors abound.  Grainy essence hides behind the fruit, as the sugary notes coat the tongue. Yeasty and nutty on second sip, but cherry again slides through.

Finish: Typical sugar coating on the finish with sharp notes of fruit.

Comment: Made for a sherry cordial cocktail, or punchy-punch that shows off the color of the shine.

Susan Reigler – 7.0

Nose: A rather curious savory nose, more like bouillon. The slight reddish hue means it has been flavored. Could it be with meat?

Palate: No. It’s cherry. It’s sugar and fruit all the way. No complexity, but that’s not  surprising given the style.

Finish: Mercifully short. It isn’t cloying and there’s a little lingering warmth. But, it isn’t hot.

Comment: Given time the fruit is apparent on the nose. There might be some interesting summer cocktail possibilities with this.
