Peggy Noe Stevens – 8.6
Nose: Warm vanilla and juicy red apple. Brown sugar develops into caramel. Nutmeg and cherry, freshly baked gingerbread.
Palate: Good balance of spice and oak. Brown sugar and banana nut bread. Dark fruit.
Finish: Savory finish with oak lingering. Long, sweet and dry finish that deserves applause.
Comment: Admirable complexity that warrants your sippin whiskey to keep for yourself. Beautiful color and cadence of flavors.
Susan Reigler – 7.8
Nose: A light nose, with elements of buttered popcorn and a little vanilla icing, as well as whiffs of candied fruit.
Palate: Roasted corn and some vanilla wafer. Faint suggestions of fruit and perhaps some nuts. But cereal flavors dominate the glass.
Finish: Peppery with oak dryness. The fruit struggles to emerge, but can never quite manage to do so.
Comment: Beautiful burnished bronze color, which turns out to be the outstanding feature of this whiskey.
