Peggy Noe Stevens – 8.5 

Nose: Bright mandarin orange and vanilla. Sugar cookie sweetness with layers of black currants and toasted oak. Fig pudding and candied walnut. Campfire smoke.

Palate: Intense on the tongue with a spiked nutmeg. Marshmallow and dark chocolate.

Finish: Finishes with a wealth of creamy texture and earthy firmness.  Tannins do not get in the way although enjoyable.

Comment: Polished structure leads you down one flavor road and U-turns to another.

Susan Reigler – 7.8 

Nose: Very light, understated nose. After some time, a little buttered popcorn and perhaps some apricot begin to be detectable.

Palate: Sweet corn and some light toffee and brown sugar. Fruit notes of berries. Behind the fruit is a brief flash of baking spice.  

Finish: Fades quickly leaving an impression of spiced cashews along with some oaky tannins.

Comment: There is nothing here to offend and would probably be fine in a Manhattan or Old Fashioned.
