Peggy Noe Stevens – 7.9
Nose: Caramel and almond nougat. Vanilla and coffee bean. Maple syrup and mint bites.
Palate: Mixed cracked pepper and paprika. Delicate coconut and tobacco flavors. Crushed hazelnuts. Apricot with some candied fruit.
Finish: Aggressive tannins that tend to melt away into a nutty toasted bread. Accent is on the background hints of wood and clove
Comment: Clamps down on the first taste and then behaves itself with a nice finish.
Susan Reigler – 8.3
Nose: Apple orchard on the nose with a generous amount of caramel.
Palate: An intriguing note of milk chocolate. This sweetness lingers and is joined by the caramel, along with apples and cinnamon.
Finish: A little like a spice cookie at first. It then dries to warm and dry spice at the very end.
Comment: This is a lovely sip with balance and complementary flavor notes. There’s a great deal of enjoyment just nosing it. Water makes it even sweeter.
