Peggy Noe Stevens – 7.2

Nose: Big nose of strawberry and cherry with light green apple and hints of grain. Bready with a sweet cane sugar note.

Palate: Cherry on the tongue is boastful and then blends with mixed berries and simple syrup. Grain alcohol is subtle and friendly.

Finish: Slight astringency from a tart view, with the cherry bouncing back to strawberry highlights.

Comment: Highly mixable and club soda would aid for a lighter summer drink.

Susan Reigler – 7.5

Nose: Sweet cherries. Very fresh aroma of the fresh fruit. Little else, given it’s new make, but that’s not a complaint.

Palate: Cherry pie in a glass with no hint of artificial flavours. Very pleasant with no alcohol burn.

Finish: Finish? This is a moonshine. If you want a finish, drink an aged whiskey. That said, there’s no lingering sweetness. Very clean.

Comment: Put an ice cube in this and enjoy. A spoonful might also be an interesting addition to an old fashioned.
