Peggy Noe Stevens – 7.8
Nose: Bold grainy aroma with primarily a corn sweetness. Wood notes abound until the cane sugar and honey speak around the back.
Palate: Easy sip with crouton toasted frame. Dried fruits and biscuit along with hints of white cherry and cinnamon.
Finish: Easy-going and pleasant. A bit short on the linger.
Comment: For the Bourbon drinker who loves grain notes.
Susan Reigler – 8.3
Nose: Very oaky. Underneath the oak are some sweet vanilla and orange peel. Let it sit for a while and honey makes an appearance.
Palate: Every bit as oaky as the nose, but the oak is joined by a savory, almost meaty, flavor as well.
Finish: Interestingly, the oak fades and the saddle leather takes over and lingers on.
Comment: Would not immediately be identified as a Bourbon. If you are looking for something very different, give it a try.
