1856 Tennessee Whiskey
Peggy Noe Stevens – 8.4
Nose: Light brown sugar and honeyed granola. Herbaceous and crisp with oriental spice aroma. Slight truffle notes and pleasing currants.
Palate: Apricots and a mix of soft clove warm the mouth. Toasted frame and oak with a splash of ginger.
Finish: Dry and enormous tannins but holds the finish on a ginger note.
Comment: Would drink in an Old-Fashioned and match the light brown sugar nose with a brown sugar cube.
Susan Reigler – 8.4
Nose: Very vanilla forward on the nose with underlying fruit notes of banana and peach. Toasted nutmeg.
Palate: Vanilla pudding with some sweet corn and maple or molasses on the palate. Peaches are laced with both sweet spice and pepper.
Finish: Fruit dries to oak, a tiny whiff of smoke, and black pepper. The pepper plays around the lips and roof of the mouth. Quite long.
Comment: Water softens and sweetens Also try experimenting with an ice cube.
