Peggy Noe Stevens 8.9
Nose: Bing cherries and slices of crusty bread. Small jolts of coffee and warm marshmallow. Light gingerbread and hazelnut, then oak and wood sugar.
Palate: Ginger and cinnamon break through on the first sip then settles in on molasses and caramel apple. Lovely texture that is both deep and rich.
Finish: Warm, sweet and dry finish with a nice structure that keeps on repeating.
Comments: Would be my campfire Bourbon to sip.
Susan Reigler 8.3
Nose: Brown sugar and toffee with pear and slight nuttiness. High proof is getting in the way of other aromatics. Time in the glass lets more fruit loose.
Palate: Caramel bomb with dark fruit and a little pepper.
Finish: Very clean. The sweeter notes fade gradually and dry to light oak.
Comments: Nice balance, but the blending of Bourbons may have submerged some of the flavors rather than creating a more complex drink.
