Peggy Noe Stevens 8.5
Nose: Luscious caramel and banana, then dates and raisin. A hint of paprika sneaks in turning into peppery goodness. Fresh caramelized wood.
Palate: Raisin again, meandering to cinnamon bread and black pepper. Floral and herbal notes are revealed after the spice.
Finish: Great complexity around the flavor wheel. Does not overpower but shows its strength.
Comments: This Bourbon begs for an Old-Fashioned, but an easy pour on the rocks.
Susan Reigler 8.2
Nose: Ripe apples dominate, then pears and some licorice.Vanilla and caramel notes are mild. A whisper of spice.
Palate: Fruity, with apples and pears persisting, joined by light caramel, mild licorice with a pinch of mint and some pepper spice.
Finish: Pepper persists in a lingering finish that ends in dry tannins.
Comments: There’s enough fruit and spice here that could make a very good ingredient in a Bourbon cocktail.
