Peggy Noe Stevens 7.0

Nose: Muted grains and a sniff of cola. Some floral notes and short toast points. It’s a little lackluster initially.

Palate: The palate heats up with a bright cinnamon and cotton candy. Flavors are backed by toasted oak.

Finish: When the heat ceases, a creamy finish plays across the palate.

Comments: A hide and go seek whiskey.

Susan Reigler 7.0

Nose: Canned fruit cocktail which isn’t very characteristic of rye, so obviously the sherry cask influence is strong. Sweetness is balanced by some cereal notes.

Palate: Fruit juice sweetness here that is right on verge of cloying. Very little spice other than a dash of pepper.

Finish: Dry pepper that persists. All trace of fruit has vanished.

Comments: It would be hard to identify as a rye given the fruitiness. Not unpleasant. But differs from the category’s style.
