100 Proof Rye
Peggy Noe Stevens 8.3
Nose: Grassy and hay note that is fresh.Rye bread and pumpernickel. Fragrant rose water. Cane sugar and nutty spiced pecans.
Palate: Gallops in on a high cinnamon flavor then calms to the earthy wood notes and tobacco. Coffee and toffee combo that heightens the interest. Slightest quaff of citrus.
Finish: Shorter finish but balanced at the end after the fiery cinnamon.
Comments: Would love this in a Manhattan to add some zing.
Susan Reigler 8.0
Nose: Very light aroma of rye grass. The nose is dominated by a curious watermelon candy note and root beer.
Palate: Very sweet and missing the spice usually found in rye. Caramel and some leather have replaced the candy notes of the nose for a balanced palate.
Finish: Dries to oak tannins and pepper.
Comments: This whiskey has multiple personalities. Water enhances all three, so definitely consider adding an ice cube.
