Price: $$$

Peggy Noe Stevens 8.5

Nose: Faint rye note and delicate golden raisin.  Some caraway seed with a cascade of honey-granola. Creamy aroma with slight mint.

Palate: Some caramel and cocoa notes on the first sip. Oak heightens later and then surrounds with savory bacon bits.

Finish: Long ginger wrap and elegantly dry and edgy.

Comments: The nose will fool you on the true spice of this rye… until you taste and see which grain is King.

Susan Reigler 8.1

Nose: Herbal notes of rye grass are balanced with unripe pears and green apple. Like freshly mowed grass.

Palate: The rye grass and herbal woodiness dominate. The fruits are missing in action. There is, however, some pepper spice accompanied by dry oak tannins.

Finish: All about oak and pepper with a very small suggestion of sweetness lingering.

Comments: This relatively low proof rye benefits from a little water, which softens the herbal edges.
