Peggy Noe Stevens 8.4
Nose: Honeysuckle and hibiscus. Light white pepper and almond with a pound cake base. Soft apricot and honey. Oak with a splash of caramel.
Palate: Surprising spice note that hovers the perimeter of your mouth with pleasing baking spices. Warm candied apple and oak that moves to soft vanilla.
Finish: Nice tannins that don’t overpower and leaves a warm cherry-like essence.
Comments: For the rye drinker that does not like a soft courting of spice.
Susan Reigler 8.1
Nose: No mistaking this for a whiskey other than a rye. Distinctive white pepper spice and a dash of cardamom.
Palate: Pleasantly peppery, with ripe apples and dark cherries. The flavors are smooth and balanced without being hot or over spiced.
Finish: Starts a bit sweet, with the spices vanishing quickly. No traces of bitter tannins on the dry ending.
Comments: It’s flavorful but not complex. It’s works well neat and would do well in a cocktail.
