Peggy Noe Stevens 8.3
Nose: Interesting nose of cassis and dark brown sugar with an almost perfume-like rose petal. Some paprika speaks up along with candied ginger. Dig deep for the chocolate notes.
Palate: Rich vanilla and zesty cinnamon take the lead into a sweet flavor of dates and dark raisin. The oak barrel note sings at the end.
Finish: It is slow to fade. Crushed pecans to end.
Comments: Inviting and playful with the zesty cinnamon and paprika. Nice evolution to the crushed pecan.
Susan Reigler 8.2
Nose: Multigrain nose with cornbread and Chex mix. Ripe apples and sweet nuts which are nudged aside by vanilla custard.
Palate: Vanilla and citrus stemming from the grain, like porridge. There’s little here in the way of spices or tannins.
Finish: Here come the spices. Cinnamon, white pepper and light tannins make their appearance.
Comments: A very satisfying sipping whiskey. A drop of water releases more fruit, but be careful with ice, which might just ruin it.
