Peggy Noe Stevens 7.5

Nose: Bright golden apple and toasted frame. Nutty pistachio, light vanilla and toffee. Quaffs of milk chocolate that are equal to the maple syrup note.

Palate: Pleasant tease of rye and spice. Easy-going and almost grassy with some golden raisin and soft vanilla. Wood sugar and rose water.

Finish: Quite light and airy with some residual sugars that linger. Spice note fades in the distance.

Comments: Gentle with a delicate center. Highly mixable for a cocktail.

Susan Reigler 7.2

Nose: Very floral. Faint herbal aroma flags this as a rye. A second nosing releases apples and a little cinnamon.

Palate: Flowers and fruit persist accompanied by brown sugar and caramel. Very light-bodied.

Finish: Short finish quickly fades to oak and pepper, though a little brown sugar stays on the tip of the tongue.

Comments: Rye drinkers looking for traditional spice might be let down. But it might be just the whiskey for warmer weather.
