Peggy Noe Stevens 8.3
Nose: Beautiful malt nose. Sweet dried cherries with spices of oregano and basil. Crème brûlée with drizzles of honey. Third nose gives delicate cocoa pound cake.
Palate: Mouth-filling ginger, fruit notes arrive with cherry and plum. Green tea leaves and slight hay. Butterscotch plays a role.
Finish: Long and spicy, yet elegant.
Comments: Ample proportions of complexities, a real charmer to the finish and unique structure.
Susan Reigler 8.2
Nose: Ripe apples with green apple peel. Some orange zest. Cinnamon and nutmeg are earthy. Faint herbal note.
Palate: What was a hint of the herbaceous dominates and results in no small amount of bitterness. What has happened to all the fruit?
Finish: The bitterness fades, giving way to coffee beans and dark chocolate before dry tannins with smoke.
Comments: This is a chameleon that changes throughout. Some malt drinkers may very well take to it.
