Nose: Simple syrup and honeycomb. Faint pear and golden raisin. Young wood and some grassy notes.

Palate: Honey heats up with some white pepper and hot cayenne. Soft vanilla. A bit yeasty with alcohol prevailing.

Finish: A bit astringent and rather light in the depth of character.

Comment: For those who enjoy light honey and some vanilla.

Score

6.9

Susan Reigler

Nose: Very gentle considering the proof. Sweet with light brown sugar, Bing cherries, and a little bit of cinnamon.

Palate: Alas, on the palate the alcohol blows away the sweet aromatics of the nose.

Finish: Pepper and a blast of alcohol heat. Yes, it has staying power.

Comment: Add water. Don’t be shy about it either. It gives the lovely aromas in the nose a fighting chance and definitely turns down the heat. Still not complex, but what virtues it has are now revealed.

Score

6.5
