Peggy Noe Stevens

Nose: Bright chocolate-marshmallow and graham cracker.  Some deep grain and brioche. A creamy coconut pie with butterscotch and wreaths of honey.

Palate: Fresh white pepper that is cool and even. Lively sweetness with a toasted marshmallow and slow smoked savories. Anise and ginger follow.

Finish: Sweet, but clove kicks in at the last minute and evens out the playing field of flavors.

Comment: A s’more in a glass, hold the milk and add the splash.

Score

8.2

Susan Reigler

Nose: Corn pudding, citrus, and a little yeastiness. Gradually, mocha emerges in a chocolate-forward note.

Palate: Chocolate-covered graham cracker which slowly changes to nutty caramel. Cinnamon and allspice dance about on the tongue, too. The different flavors merge well.

Finish: Caramel gives way to dry oak tannins in a medium-long finish.

Comment: Good balance here. Let it take its time in the glass and be rewarded with more fruit and baking spices.

Score

8.0
