Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Buffalo Trace Distillery
Peggy Noe Stevens
Nose: Tobacco and banana with twists of wood sugar and oriental spice. Crushed pecans with nutmeg and molasses. Toffee candy and light coffee.
Palate: Caramel on the palate with a mingling of the toffee, then paprika and ginger, but mature on the spice. A sensation of mint at the end.
Finish: Plush texture with sorghum and oak. A punch of clove.
Comments: Wildly complex and decadent with a seductive mouthfeel that gradually unfolds its complexity.
Nose: Ripe peaches, freshly grated cinnamon and nutmeg, brown sugar, caramel apple, vanilla, and marzipan.
Palate: Sweet caramel is built upon with milk chocolate, stone fruit, a pinch of citrus zest, and roasted almonds. The cinnamon and nutmeg from the nose persist for perfect spicy balance.
Finish: The fruit, savory oak and nuts linger.
Comments: Nearly perfect at full proof.
But the addition of a little water summons chocolate like an incantation.
