Nose: Warm biscuit and earthy nose. Candied pecans and white cherry. Dig deep and anise appears with the wood sugar.

Palate: Chewy caramel candy, delicate orange and smoky cherry. Walnut lends a hint of bitterness in a positive and earthy way. Baking spices elevate as you sip.

Finish: Lingering, and well rounded from the sweet to fruit notes. Heats up at the end with the baking spices.

Comments: Enjoyable for casual sipping or going full-throttle.

Score

8.6

Nose: Dark caramel-coated berries with cinnamon and hints of milk chocolate. Inviting and balanced.

Palate: Caramel and berries carry over, accompanied by oaky astringency. It’s almost as though some flavors are trapped, which often happens in higher-proof whiskeys than this.

Finish: Becomes very dry with the oak quickly, but without bitterness.

Comments: The dryness could be complemented by sweet vermouth in a Manhattan cocktail.

Score

8.2
