Peggy Noe Stevens

Nose
Licorice and caramel. Black pepper and smoked marshmallow. Earthy with pipe smoke. Candied walnuts and golden-brown sugar.
Palate
Brown sugar that keeps elevating and rolls into caramel and nougat. Heat is balanced with the peppery flavors. Great earthy overlay.

Finish
Viscosity is dense and sweet. Love the pepper zing on the lips as it tries to lay and rest on the tongue.

Comments
Big and bold. Pair with some bold cheese.

Score

8.7

Susan Reigler

Nose
Dark brown sugar, butterscotch, and some cotton candy lead. Subtle notes of berries and cherries.

Palate
Baked apples drizzled with caramel and chocolate shavings. Cinnamon or allspice. Lots of bright oak with some vanilla wafers.

Finish
A touch of astringency, but no bitterness. Caramel apple quickly segues into oak tannins.

Comments
A small ice cube opens this nicely, revealing much more fruit and caramel.

Score

8.6
