Peggy Noe Stevens

Nose
Creamy corn pudding. Pencil shavings and sweet molasses. Apple crumble and apricot marmalade. Honeyed granola with milk chocolate.

Palate
Sweet grains of corn predominate, then it softens with delicate white pepper.  Macaroons and streaks of milk chocolate.

Finish
Texture of golden-brown sugar and spice mix beautifully.

Comments
My kind of whiskey sour with the sweetness of the whiskey making friends with the sour mix. Ice it up.

Score

8.5

Susan Reigler

Nose
Crabapples and dark brown sugar set the tone with a touch of herbal rye spiciness.

Palate
Lots of rich caramel here. Very Bourbon like, except for that tell-tale rye spice. There’s some vanilla and baked apple too, with a dusting of baking spices.

Finish
Caramel winds down and milk chocolate appears. Then light brown sugar and sweet oak.

Comments
Very much a Kentucky-style rye with a lot of caramel sweetness. Very smooth and approachable.

Score

8.6
