Jane Bowie and Denny Potter announced their departure from Maker’s Mark just a few weeks ago. Now they are announcing a new distillery they hope will open in two years.
The new distillery will be located in Washington County, Kentucky and will focus on producing whiskey, specifically Bourbon.
“We are building a brand new distillery,” reports Bowie. “Today was the first big step for us, because this was the Economic Development Incentive hearing. That will become public as of today, that we are going to Washington County. If all goes well, we will break ground in the spring and we will be operational in two years from now.”
“We have 41 years combined in the industry,” Bowie continues. “We’ve been playing distillery fantasy camp for 15 years. This is something we’ve talked about as friends for years and years, so it’s a really exciting day for us.”
Currently there are no plans for a distillery name or a brand name. The duo’s focus is on getting their ideal distillery built and starting to produce whiskey.
