If you don’t like egg nog, chances are you’ve never had well-made egg nog. The flavors in this Coalition Whiskey 100% estate-grown Rye finished in Pauillac Barriques barrels pair nicely with the wintry baking spices, creating layers of flavor. Try making it a week or more ahead and refrigerating to see how nicely the flavors come together with a little age.
Coalition Whiskey Egg Nog
6 ounces of Coalition Whiskey finished in Pauillac barrels
4 eggs
3/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon grated nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground allspice
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
2 ounces orange liqueur
12 ounces milk
8 ounces heavy cream
Grated nutmeg and star anise for garnish
Blend the eggs for 1 minute. Add the sugar and nutmeg, allspice, cloves, and cinnamon, and blend for an additional 30 seconds. Now add Coalition Whiskey and orange liqueur, and blend for another 30 seconds. Add the milk and cream and blend 1 minute more. Cover and refrigerate. Portion out 4 ounces of eggnog into a teacup.
