Peggy Noe Stevens

Nose
Candy corn and peanut brittle, honeysuckle and vanilla bean. Oak with white pepper and apricot.

Palate
Herbal sage and caramel with oriental spices. A few savory scents of barrel wood and char. It leans toward banana.

Finish
Pleasant and warm, gracious elevation of white pepper to hit the grand finale of oak and spice  that lingers long.

Comments
Evolves gracefully from the
sweet start to the oak-spiced finish.

Score

8.8

Susan Reigler

Nose
Crème brûlée, cherries, ripe apples, a tiny whiff of cinnamon, some light brown sugar.

Palate
Vanilla from the nose ripens into caramel and the fruit turns dark – raisins and dates. Spice is peppery and there’s some sturdy oak.

Finish
Dries to oaky tannins leaving a very pleasant warmth in the mouth and throat that persists for some time.

Comments
Not as complex on the palate as the nose, but add some water and allow it to open up. Remains balanced throughout.

Score

8.5
