Peggy Noe Stevens

Nose
Intense golden-brown sugar and drizzles of maple syrup. A unique floral rose water. Macadamia nuts and damp tea leaves.

Palate
Caramel, milk chocolate and cassis. Nice touch of oak that follows oriental spices.

Finish
Firm tannins that eventually break into almond and honey. Soft spice caresses the tongue as the oak returns.

Comments
Gutsy tannins and full-bodied, layers of flavors that speak one at a time.

Score

8.5

Susan Reigler

Nose
Peach cobbler. Dark brown sugar and peaches with some mace and allspice. Yeasty biscuit.

Palate
Crème brûlée with a touch of fruit added to the custard. Baking spices provide some accents, as well as some modest oak tannins.

Finish
The vanilla dries into the oak tannins from the palate, which continue to make themselves known for a while, most notably on the lips.

Comments
Very nice on its own, but would also be an excellent cocktail base. An Old Fashioned would be superior.

Score

8.8
