The 12 Years Old Tennessee Whiskey and the second batch of 10 Years Old Tennessee Whiskey are the latest limited editions to be released in the distillery’s Aged Series
Jack Daniel’s has announced the release of two new whiskey as part of its Aged Series: 12 Years Old Tennessee Whiskey and 10 Years Old Tennessee Whiskey Batch 2.
The mash bills for both expressions are 80 per cent corn, 12 per cent malted barley and 8 per cent rye – the standard for Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7 – and are charcoal mellowed before ageing in new toasted and charred American white oak barrels. The 12 Years Old is bottled at 53.5% ABV (107 proof) while the 10 Years Old Batch 2 is bottled at 48.5% ABV (97 proof).
The Aged Series is an annual release of age-statement expressions which are designed to celebrate the brand’s heritage. It launched in 2022 with the Jack Daniel’s 10 Years Old Tennessee Whiskey Batch 1.
Chris Fletcher, Jack Daniel’s master distiller, said: “The Jack Daniel Distillery is one of the most complete whiskey distilleries in the world, and we’re fortunate to have a deep history to draw inspiration from and craft premium whiskeys in a way that stays true to our heritage of quality and innovation.
“We released our first age-stated whiskey since the early 1900s in this series about a year ago and were thrilled with the overwhelmingly positive response. We know there is a lot of excitement for our Aged Series, and we can’t wait to share Batch 2 of our 10-Year-Old Tennessee Whiskey along with the first release of our 12-Year-Old Tennessee Whiskey.”
These releases follow a busy period for Jack Daniel’s in terms of new product development: alongside launching the Aged Series last year, the Lynchburg-based distiller launched its Bonded and Triple Mash expressions (both bottled-in-bond whiskeys) in September 2022, followed closely by its first single malt whiskey release, the Twice Barreled Special Release American Single Malt, in November.
The Jack Daniel’s 12 Years Old Tennessee Whiskey and 10 Years Old Tennessee Whiskey Batch 2 will be available in the US from March 2023 in 70cl bottles for suggested retail prices of $80 and $70 respectively.
