Peggy Noe Stevens

Nose
Fresh rolls of hay and malted barley. Displays a yeasty essence and focused floral notes of  hibiscus.  Lightly caramelized wood sugar.

Palate
Surprise entrance of a peat note, smoky and enticing. Peanut shell and butter brickle with cinnamon and ginger. A spritz of citrus.

Finish
Spices lead with citrus and oak and slowly dwindle into the first smoke of the peat essence.

Comments
Nice show of earthy flavor presence, which elevates at the finish to flex its muscle.

Score

8.5

Susan Reigler

Nose
Very light apple with some sweet malt and nuts emerging as it sits in the glass.

Palate
Milk chocolate-covered graham cracker with a little spike of cayenne pepper. The apple finally appears just before the finish begins.

Finish
The nuts from the nose perform an encore which fades into a whisp of light smoke.

Comments
A delicate balancing act between the light flavors, none of which outshines the others. Good example of a light-bodied malt whiskey.

Score

8.8
