The awards aim to recognise and honour the outstanding women in the industry who have made significant strides and have been instrumental in uplifting members in their teams.
Calver has been nominated in the category of Spirits Writer of the Year, with the criteria for the award highlighting the following: communication; creativity; professionalism; integrity and knowledge.
Calver has been editor of American Whiskey since September 2019, her first issue being number seven. Since taking charge, the magazine has rocketed in popularity, with a collection of impressive cover stars including Matthew McConnaughey, Melissa McCarthy, Ben Falcone, and Brother’s Bond founders Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley.
Speaking on her nomination, Calver commented: “It is a true honour to be included as a finalist in this category. In an industry that houses a selection of truly incredible spirits writers, I’m over the moon to have been selected and filled with pride. Sharing stories, with our American Whiskey readers, of innovative whiskey makers and shining a light on those that may otherwise go unnoticed, is a role I take very seriously and hope to continue doing so for many years to come.”
The awards will take place at the Bourbon Women SIPosium on Friday 25 August 2023, 6:30PM EST, in Louisville, Kentucky. The evening will bring together industry leaders and supporters to celebrate the achievements of women in the spirits world.
