As coronavirus continues to plague the nation, those within the distilling industry are going to great efforts to aid the front-line workers and local communities as they cope with the pandemic.
Balcones Distilling
Texas-based Balcones Distilling has committed itself to the production of more than 18,000 bottles of sanitizer by the end of March, all of which will be donated to first responders, hospitals and other essential businesses in Texas and further afield.
Distillery manager, Thomas Mote added: “We wanted to do our part to provide resources to those in need during these uncertain times. Our goal is to get our hand sanitizer into the hands of those who need it most, particularly emergency responders, to provide meaningful assistance as they deal with COVID-19.”
The distillery is continuing with production during this time, with the team identifying organizations in need of sanitizer and other methods of support for the community.

Heaven Hill Brands
Heaven Hill Brands has also committed areas of its operations to produce, bottle and distribute hand sanitizer for aid healthcare facilities, first responders and high-risk populations. The team will be carrying out this production in conjunction with local and state government.
In order to cover a broader number of people, production is underway at Even Williams in Kentucky, Deep Eddy Vodka in Texas and Black Velvet Distillery in Canada.
As well as their production of sanitizer, Heaven hill is pledging $400,000 to employee communities and those individuals in hospitality that have been affected by coronavirus. This donation will be shared across community partner funds which include One Louisville, Tri-County United Way, Stand with Austin, United Way of Lethbridge & South Western Alberta and Community Foundation of Ireland.
