For this week’s Friday cocktail club we wanted to supply you with our top four Julep recipes to get you in the Derby spirit and ready to celebrate on Saturday, May 1st this year.
It’s time to dust off your finery and turn your hand to the Julep of your choice; this year our options feature Bardstown Bourbon Company’s Fusion #4, Bib & Tucker’s 6-year-old Bourbon, and Redemption Whiskey’s High-Rye Bourbon.

The 2021 Juleps
Bardstown Bourbon Company Julep Tin
INGREDIENTS
- 2 oz Bardstown Bourbon Company Fusion #4
- 0.5 oz simple syrup (2:1 white sugar:water)
- 2 sprigs of thyme 2 fresh cherries
- Glass: Julep Tin
METHOD
Strip all the leaves from a sprig of thyme into a julep tin, add rich syrup, add cherries and muddle, add Bourbon, stir, add crushed ice, and garnish with thyme and cherry.
Strawberry-Basil Julep
INGREDIENTS
- 2 oz Bardstown Bourbon Company Fusion #4
- 0.5 oz simple syrup (2:1 white sugar:water)
- 3 basil leaves
- 2 strawberries
- Glass: Julep Tin
METHOD
In a julep tin, combine the rich syrup, basil leaves, and strawberries and muddle, add Bourbon, stir, add crushed ice, and garnish with basil and strawberry.
Bib & Tucker Jamboree Julep
METHOD
- Muddle Elderflower liqueur, mint, and thyme together in a mixing glass
- Add Bib & Tucker 6–year-old Bourbon, stir together briefly, and double strain over ice into a highball glass
- Add about 4 ounces of soda water and stir briefly to combine
- Garnish with a lemon twist trimmed and wrapped around nice thyme and mint sprigs to garnish.
Redemption RyeHigh Rye Bourbon Mint Julep
INGREDIENTS
- 2 parts Redemption High Rye Bourbon
- ½ part simple syrup Mint
- Glass: Julep Tin
- Garnish: Kentucky Colonel mint
METHOD
- Rub the inside of a Julep Cup with mint leaves, coating the inside of the cup with natural oils, stir Redemption Whiskey and simple syrup in mixing glass to incorporate
- Pour into the Julep Cup, top and pack with crushed ice
- Garnish with Kentucky Colonel mint and serve with reusable or biodegradable straw.
