Bob Dylan’s Heaven’s Door whiskey has released two cocktails, taking inspiration from Hugh Grant’s latest horror and psychological thriller, Heretic. Paying homage to Dylan’s famous hit that gave the whiskey brand its namesake, Sophie Thatcher stars as Sister Barnes, who sings a rendition of ‘Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door’ during the film’s final act.
While Dylan is best-known for his music and art, the critically acclaimed musician has always been passionate about whiskey, and has recently partnered with Heaven’s Door, an award-winning collection of hand-crafted American whiskeys.
Each bottle of Heaven’s Door features a unique bottle design and distinctive flavors, offering something special to art and whiskey enthusiasts alike.

Blood & Heretics
Ingredients
- 1oz Heaven’s Door Tennessee Bourbon
- 0.35oz cherry liqueur
- 0.35oz orange liqueur
- 0.65oz Sweet Red Vermouth
- 2 dashes orange bitters
- Atomised peated whisky
Method
Pour all liquids into a mixing glass, add ice and stir until you have reached your desired dilution. Pour into a chilled glass to serve over ice or straight up. Garnish with a twist of orange and maraschino cherry.
For a longer drink, substitute the orange liqueur for 30ml orange juice for a more traditional take on a Blood & Sand cocktail.
Dissident Old Fashioned
Ingredients
- 1.65oz Heaven’s Door Double Barrel Whiskey
- 0.35oz PX Ximenez sherry
- 0.35oz sugar syrup
- Two dashes Angostura and orange bitters
- Optional: grated chilli chocolate
Method
Pour all ingredients into a chilled rocks glass, add ice and stir until you have reached your desired dilution. To garnish, finely grate chilli chocolate over the drink to add a touch of spice.
