Both whiskeys have a tie to animals. The RuhRoh Rye is a playful nod to Scooby Doo, aged just under five years of age and bottled at 113 proof. The producers have described the expression as having notes of buttery caramel and orange peel on the note and orange, citrus and leathery oak on the palete . The expression is set to retail for $120 for a 750ml bottle.
The Combat Infantry Badge (CIB) Bourbon release meanwhile is the latest in the distillery’s CIB series. Each year, J. Mattingly donates a portion of the sales of the CIB bottles to a military related non-profit. This year’s recipient is Forgotten Coast K9, which helps provide service dogs to veterans and first responders with the mission to stop suicide in those communities.
The 2024 CIB bourbon was aged for six-and-a-half-years and bottled at 116 proof. The producers have described it as having aromas of banana and brown sugar on the nose as well as on the palete . The first 50 bottles will be released when doors open at 8:30am, with the remaining 450 to be available at a later date. The price is $155 for a 750ml bottle.
The on-site festival will take place at J. Mattingly 1845 Distillery and doors will open at 10am for the four hour event.
