Derby season is coming around quickly and Mint Julep Experiences are offering a chance to put aside the high heels and black ties, offering a new experience for Derby Eve in the form of the first-ever Bourbon & BBQ Throwdown.
The event will be hosted at the Jim Beam American Stillhouse on Friday, May 1 to celebrate the night before this year’s Kentucky Derby begins.
During the event, you’ll experience an after-hours private distillery tour and tasting at Jim Beam, the chance to purchase bottles on which you can design your own labels. Once the tour is finished, two signature cocktails are available to guests, as well as appetizers, a Southern barbecue, live music and more.
Mint Julep Experiences owner and co-founder Sean Higgins explains the planning process behind this inaugural event: “We wanted to build on our existing Derby Week adventures and experiences that showcase both bourbon distilleries and horse farms and create something unique that will be a memorable evening for those looking to have a more laid-back, true Kentucky experience before the big race.”

The tour will depart from the Mint Julep Hub located inside the Omni Louisville Hotel, 210 W. Liberty St. The tour departs at 5:15 pm on Friday, May 1, and returns at approximately 10 pm.
