Baltimore, Maryland distillery Old Line Spirits has announced its newest whiskey. 51 Rye Whiskey is made in collaboration with Monument City Brewing Co, using the same grains as the brewer’s 51 Rye IPA.

A straight rye whiskey, the use of the grain pays homage to Maryland’s rye whiskey heritage. Co-founder Arch Watkins reflected: “[51 Rye] is a high malt rye that truly encapsulates what Old Line is all about: boldness, quality, and a deep appreciation for Maryland’s distilling history. I can’t wait for everyone to taste the whiskey.”

The limited edition whiskey debuted this weekend at Old Line Spirits’ Spring Fling, the brand’s annual anniversary celebration at its Baltimore distillery. This year’s Spring Fling celebrated Old Line Spirits’ seventh birthday. Since opening in 2017 the brand’s main focus has been on American single malt whiskey, making the 51 Rye a departure from its norm.

Co-founder Mark McLaughlin said: “This whiskey is a step in a new direction for Old Line. Working with Monument City Brewing Co allowed us to blend tradition with creativity, resulting in a whiskey that is both unique and respectful of Maryland’s rye heritage. Our focus is still on American single malts but expect to see this wonderful rye whiskey again in the future!”

Old Line Spirits 51 Rye Whiskey 102 Proof is available now at the distillery and via oldlinespirits.com for a suggested retail price of $39.99.
