Peggy Noe Stevens

Nose
Caramel and dark raisin. Shreds of zingy orange zest. Mocha and maple syrup cling to the second nose, enhanced by baking spices.

Palate
Crisp allspice and rich caramel. Mandarin orange with cinnamon burst and oak tinge.

Finish
Full bodied for an enduring finish that shows off the caramel and oak. Appealing bites of the cinnamon which sizzles just right.

Comments
Handsome whiskey that does not disappoint and drives like a well-oiled vintage car, smooth and easy.

Score

8.8

Susan Reigler

Nose
Red apple peel and caramel with some sprinklings of baking spices. A note of hayloft on a hot day hovers in the background.

Palate
Toffee and cinnamon with apples and pears following after the initial spice. The flavor notes then trade back and forth along the tongue.

Finish
Fruit sticks around for some time, along with some spicy warmth. It dries, but is not tannic.

Comments
A little water turns the caramel to toffee and darkens the fruit. Good sip and choice as a cocktail base.

Score

8.8
